My new favorite thing! (I ain't no Oprah, but...)

On the Sundance Channel Online (and on TV) you can catch Isabella Rosellini's Green Porno.

Isabella Rosellini (still GORGEOUS) has made some very short films about the reproductive habits of insects and marine animals.

It's a two minute melange of many things I love; animals, costumes, foreign films, and PORN, I mean, UNITARDS.

The "Redwing" in Shwing

So I am not the most post frequent poster. Sue me.

However, I was inspired by last weekend's visitors, The Shwings. The Shwings are my childhood friend, Mr. Shaw, and his lovely wife, Mrs. Redwing-Shaw.

Whilst getting a new tattoo on her visit to NYC, Mrs. Shwing showed me another of her tattoos, a beautiful Redwing Blackbird she had done at Deluxe Tattoo in Chicago, IL. Her last name, Redwing, is Native American and comes from the Redwing Blackbird.


One of my favorites artists, Charley Harper, is famous for his bird and other nature works. Mr. Harper passed away in 2007 and was very prolific in his over six decades of creating. Many of his works can be found here. Todd Oldham was a huge fan of his and was the author of a book dedicated to Mr. Harper's work. Eleanor Grosch, another favorite artist of mine, considers Mr. Harper a mentor and inspiration as well.


So, in honor of the "Redwing" in Shwing, please enjoy Mr. Harper's Redwing Blackbirds. Of all his work, they are some of his best.
